Okay every kid loves Legos, but let’s face it as parents, with their penchant for being left all over the floor, these pesky little colorful bricks are the bane of our lives.

You know what I mean?.. It’s not only the fact that pieces get lost from expensive Lego sets; or the searching through the vacuum cleaner dust bag; or the frustration of the kids not being able to find the pieces they are looking for.

The purpose of this post is to provide an apology and explanation to Lego enthusiasts and adult fans of Lego that take umbrage against our use of the term “Legos” instead of the term “Lego” on our web site.

As the inventors of the BOX4BLOX and parents of four young children living in New Zealand, it was not until we moved our manufacturing operation to the United States and started promoting the  BOX4BLOX online that we were introduced to the size and, what can only be called, the “passion” of the Adult Fan of Lego community towards these popular colorful plastic bricks.

You see, the reason we are making this apology is that we receive a lot of email communication from disgruntled Lego fans, and especially adult fans of Lego, complaining about the use of the word “Legos” in the online promotion of our BOX4BLOX invention.

Adult Fans of Lego Enthusiasts At Work

In explanation to those of you that are not aware, to adult fans of Lego, or AFOLers as they are called, the word “Legos” is like “a four letter word”.  The word “AFOLer” being a  comparative adjective for the acronym made from the term, Adult Fan of Lego (AFOL).

In further explanation, the archetypal AFOLer can be described as an Lego enthusiast aged over 18 years old that is absolutely passionate about Lego bricks and building their own Lego creations.  In most cases, the average AFOLer is the owner of a huge Lego collection, numbering in the many tens of thousands, and in some cases, hundreds of thousands of Lego pieces.

The primary reason we include the term Legos in our web site copy, is that BOX4BLOX is now manufactured in the United States, where we market and sell it through Amazon.com, and the term “Legos” is very much a “North American” or, more specifically,  an “American” term.
