The #70751 LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu is the largest LEGO Ninjago set ever released, so there is a lot to talk about. It took me five hours to build the set, and probably just as much to write this review. So settle in, and let’s begin. While Ninjago’s target audience is mostly kids, this set is definitely going to be of great interest to adult LEGO fans as well. Let me say this right now; it is a gorgeous piece of art, worthy of not just play, but display. I could certainly see it not just in a child’s play-room, but in a serene meditation-room. And when you read the story behind how the set was designed there are some instances of serendipity, which makes this beautiful temple even more mysterious and special. 🙂

Review: 70751 Temple of Airjitzu – Brickset

Ninjago has become one of the most popular LEGO themes of the past decade, with a range of excellent sets which generally appeal to children and adults alike. The latest and largest of these is 70751 Temple of Airjitzu, a 2028-piece set recreating the Temple on Haunted Hill which appeared in season five of the TV show.

The spectacular oriental architecture is hugely impressive and will probably be the most appealing aspect of the set for most adult fans, although the play features are also very enjoyable and there is a brilliant range of figures too. For those reasons I suspect this set will sell rather well as there is a substantial potential market for it in my opinion, despite the fact that Ninjago is typically aimed at younger buyers.

The box is a little smaller than I was expecting but this works in favour of the artwork which is tightly packed with bright colours and action. The orange skyline looks absolutely fantastic and contrasts beautifully with the temple which is predominantly red and black. It’s nice to see some of the humour from the series included as well as the ever-unlucky Postman is harassed by chickens to the left of the blacksmith’s shop! Ninjago 70605 Misfortune’s Keep [Review] – Brothers Brick

Ninjago’s new theme for 2016, called Skybound, takes us to the air in an epic duel between sky pirates and our intrepid heroes, the ninjas. We’ve already reviewed 70603 Zeppelin Raid, and now thanks to LEGO we are able to get our hands on the literal flagship for the theme, 70605 Misfortune’s Keep. The set includes 754 pieces, and we expect it to retail for around $80 when it debuts in the coming weeks. Included are the main airship, a smaller flier for both factions, and six minifigs and a monkey.

Inside the box are six numbered bags, a bag of oversized parts, a loose dark bluish grey 8×16 tile, and a sealed bag containing the instructions, sticker sheet, and flexible plastic die-cut pirate flag. The instruction bag contained a piece of rigid cardboard to ensure the manual and sticker sheet don’t get damaged, which is a great practice that LEGO should employ in all its larger sets. Currently, the practice is only used occasionally and with no discernible (to me) criteria, and the lack of it often results in crinkled instructions and sticker sheets being found in brand new boxes. The pristine instruction manual here is a hefty 142 pages, and although it’s not spiral bound, I had no issues with it staying open to the correct page as I was building...Read more here

Review: 70605 Misfortune’s Keep – Brickset

The Ninjago team is taking to the skies this year and the largest set belonging to the Skybound subtheme is 70605 Misfortune’s Keep, priced at £69.99 and containing 754 pieces as well as six minifigures, including three ninja and the exclusive Djinn Nadakhan!

This set stood out to me at once, combining the ramshackle nature of a pirate galleon with a steampunk vessel of some kind. The essence of this design is prevalent throughout all of the pirate craft in the latest wave and they therefore look fairly uniform despite their cobbled together appearance.

However, that has resulted in some issues which I had not anticipated as a few areas of the vessel are rather fragile and the space is not always used to its fullest potential in my opinion. Read on and see what you think…

Three ninja are included: Kai, Jay and Lloyd. They all appear in smaller sets but these versions are exclusive as Kai features a new scabbard element, Jay is wearing an eye patch and is without his mask while Lloyd wears some bulky armour by which he can be clipped to his booster jet... Read more here

The main vehicle here is basically an elaborate Airjitzu Flyer launcher that you can easily hold in one hand and swoosh around, while shooting off the flyer on top. A really well done design. My only concern is that that the airship does have a lot of small parts, and because Airjitzu is mostly an outdoors game there can be a problem of loosing the small pieces. He Ronin R.E.X. is a new Ningajo set that belongs to the 2015 second wave of releases entitled “Shadows of Ronin”, that will be available next August. With five hundred and forty seven pieces, it features an extraordinary airship, a small dragon and four mini-figures: Ronin, Kai, Ghoul Tar and Hackler.

Filled of amazing details and a global shape that remembers somehow Star Wars, the REX is built with several colors where the red prevails above the rest. …A very nice looking set…EXCELLENT building techniques!!…

One of the main reasons for me to buy this set was that I found it available on my country’s “Amazon” website at a decent discount, so I went for it. And also, I liked the minifigures in this set (especially Ronin) so I bought this set. But I was (pleasantly) shocked..when I found that the flying vehicle in this set is quite…impressive!!

This set contains four minifigures, a skreemer, a small buildable dragon and the main attraction, the R.E.X. vehicle.
The box looks quite nice but I didn’t like the Green Ninja in the logo. He’s been used a lot of times in the logo in the past; wish LEGO would have used a new character. Like, Sensei Wu. Even Morro would have been nice. Anyway, hopefully in the future LEGO will use a character in the logo, that hasn’t appeared before.

Starting with the minifigures, Ronin is a fantastic minifigure! Though I had seen this minifigure in pictures and video reviews, now that I have him in front of me, he looks magnificent ..in person! The printing on his torso (front and back) and legs is very good.His face printing is also nice. The contrasting colors on him look very appealing! His left arm is in orange which contrasts nicely with the light green on the rest of his shirt. His red Chinese hat (red is a rare color for the hat) looks cool! And the matching red mask looks nice. I wish the hat had an attached hair piece to it, then it would have looked fabulous. Currently, Ronin looks bald because of no hair piece. He is fully loaded when it comes to weapons. He carries two stud-shooters that shoot gold studs, which is cool. (And you get quite a few extra gold studs which is nice).He even carries two black katanas in a nice sword-holster on his back. I really LOVE this minifigure…it’s become one of my all-time favorites in the Ninjago theme!

Kai looks great in red and black.His cowl piece is nice. The printing on his torso (front and back) and legs are quite good. The only weapon he carries is the Aeroblade, which is a cool weapon/accessory. But it is slightly big for a minifigure; it should have been made a bit smaller. Read More…

Hi EB, here is a somehow unconventional review as I decided to review it 2 weeks after the build (so no pictures of sealed bag of pieces, etc …) :blush: I know everyone is into the upcoming ghost theme, but here I am with a review of a set of the previous wave ^^

Since the beginning of the Ninjago theme, I always had a particular affection for sets with dragons or temple/villain’s lair (not quite fan of the recurring “the ultimate motorcycle of #insert ninja name here#”). Lucky me, this 1st 2015 wave had both, so I’ll start with the enemy’s temple. Note – I did not watched the show so unfortunately I cannot say if this is show-accurate or what are the detailed stories of the different characters.

My review is based on our 7 year old grandsons opinion. He jumped up and down when opening this on Christmas, he was especially excited at the character with the serpent head. This kit was put together fairly quick and has been played with over and over again. He loves Legos, like most kids, but really loves the Ninjago sets. The price on Amazon was definitely the best. Having the convenience of not having to deal with the crowds at the store was a gift for us. As always, we love the two day Prime shipping.

…Nice big set! Heavy to hold once complete. Use hairdryer to flatten sails…..

It’s big and heavy when complete! Don’t expect your little one will be able to lift it comfortably once it’s built. It’s rather larger and bulky. Lego did think ahead and included a ‘handle’ that supports the ship… but if you’re kiddo is anything like mine, it’ll sit on the table and serve as a backdrop. This LEGO set is one of the FEW that actually is worth the money!! I’m always taken back by how small the $80 set is I purchased… but this one, wow, it’s a good size. I would say it took a good 4 hours of interrupted time to complete it… but wow, very cool.

One tip, the ‘sails’ are made of flexible plastic and are warped from the box, put them under a hair dryer for about 10 seconds, and they straighten out nicely.

…My Son Is Sooo Proud Of It……

My son ordered this with his birthday money. He absolutely loves legos. He has so many and I’m not sure what the difference is between any of them. I think this is the biggest one he’s had. Its definitely the most expensive lol. He just brought it in to show me and I am impressed it only took him an hour to get it done. I must say I still enjoy legos at 33 so I am glad its these that he likes more than video games. He says it was quite easy. Sometimes he runs into at least one issue that I have to help him with but nothing with this one. WIN!

Let me start by saying I’m not a huge LEGO® Ninjago follower. I don’t know the story, and have little idea who’s who – or why they’ve gone from fighting skeletons to snakemen and in the latest wave have become Ghostbusters. One thing I do like about the series are the dragons. I’ve got a thing for brick-built dragons, so when the latest Ninjago sets were released, I naturally set my eyes on Master Wu’s Dragon (70734).

The set is priced at $60 RRP for 575 pieces, which seems right for a mid-tier set, especially considering that there are five minifigures included. In comparison, Titanium Dragon (70748) in the last release was the same price, but only had 360 pieces and three figs. There’s also a number of new elements in the set, both new moulds as well as new colours, some of which are exclusive to this set thus far. But how does the set stack up as a whole? Let’s get into it. Out of the box, you get two instruction booklets, five bags, and a sticker sheet. Our 6 yr old grandson was THRILLED to get this set for Christmas and had it together within a hour or 2. Kept him very busy while we grown-up oohed and awed over his talent at building with Lego’s.
